"The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."
-Sally Clarkson from the Mission of Motherhood

On the Move

Grace has been on the move lately, and she is picking up speed.  Yesterday I went to put Grant in the living room, and by the time I was back in the den, Grace wasn't there!  I found her trying get under the kitchen table!  Her face says it all!  She thought it was so funny that she got caught!
Henry went to Jump Zone today with some of his friends.  He had a great time, and it actually wore him out (which is hard to do.)  In the picture above, he is laying down at the top of the slide!  I was so ecstatic as I thought I'd probably be able to get a nap out of him today without any problem.
Below is a video of one of the games at Jump Zone.  They had basketball, hockey, baseball, etc.  The neat thing about the baseball game is that the ball is suspended in mid air rather than on a tee.  Henry thought this was great for batting practice!

Early Birthday Celebration!

David's parents came in town yesterday and we celebrated David's birthday!  We had to blow out the candles about 3 times for Henry.  He loves birthdays!
Grant & Grace dressed for church Sunday morning.  It is so hard to get them in matching outfits.  I have probably put them in these outfits 4 times, and this was the first time they made it to church in them.  They always seem to have an accident on their clothes before I can get them out the door!

First Girls' Night Out!

Grace and I had our first Girls' Night Out on Thursday when I had Phi Mu Dinner.
She loved it & behaved so well!
Friday night we had an early birthday celebration for David at Mimi & Papa's.  The only thing Henry loves more than birthday cake is singing Happy Birthday!

Uncle Michael above with Grace & Uncle Wes below with Henry :)
The kids sure do love time with their uncles!

My Little Bowler

We went bowling with friends for the first time today, and Henry absolutely loved it!  I did not realize until recently that they have so many ways to accommodate little ones in a bowling alley.  Henry caught on quickly and really had a great time.  We'll be back soon I'm sure!

Happy 60th Birthday, Nana!

Today is Nana's 60th Birthday, and we hope she has a great one!  She has truly devoted her retirement to taking care of her nine grandchildren & we are so grateful for the help!  This picture was taken Sunday at her party.  We had just instructed all the kids to let Nana blow out her own candles.  Henry sat there quietly and as soon as we were through singing he blew out all nine candles (one for each grandchild) in one breath before Nana could even do it!  So shame on Henry, but as you can see, we all got a good laugh out of it!

Grant, of course, LOVES baby food.  He won't even let me give his sister a bite without humming (his version of begging) for me to feed him faster!
My little sweet potato queen!  We started baby food on Monday night!

This video is from Friday night when David & Henry rode the train at the zoo.  It was Grace & Grant's first trip to the zoo, so the pic below was taken to document it!

Papa holding Grant & Grace when we went to their house on Saturday!

The twins are loving teething on each other.  I routinely have to break up their fights as the one being chewed on gets upset in a hurry!

So Many Firsts!

Grant and Grace moved from their bath tub to the bath seat tonight!  Above is Grant getting his first bath sitting up.  Below is Henry & Grace playing with their washcloths!  Everybody had fun last night at bath time!

Grace also started using the jumper on Tuesday!  She loves spinning around and using her little legs.  We just have to teach Henry not to take them for more of a ride than they bargained for!  We didn't have to deal with this obstacle when Henry used it!

Grant Rolled Over!

Grant has now rolled over!  Good job, Grant!  Grace has been on the move with her rolling and her army style crawl, and I think Grant finally decided he might be interested being mobile too!   In the second pic you can see that they each have two teeth now.  They are growing and changing too quickly!

Below is a video of Henry making Grace laugh.  Grant & Grace have really gotten attached to Henry lately!

A New Bike!

Henry got a new bike on Sunday.  He has been asking for a while, but I just thought he was too young.  We have not had much luck finding one small enough.  We finally found one at Walmart, and I got it down off the rack for him to try (unsure of whether he'd know what to do.)  He took off down the aisle & I was yelling, "Stop Henry!!!" worried he was going to hit someone.  (Those of you that know him are probably picturing this and laughing at us!)  So, he proved me wrong.  He was absolutely ready.  So, we put the bike in the cart & I told Henry he had just earned himself a new ride!

This was tonight at the Summer Preschool Party at church.  He enjoyed showing off his new wheels!

One of Henry's tricks he mastered about a month ago....spelling his name!

Sorry this pic is blurry.  I did not have much luck on pics today!  This is Pierce and Henry at the nursing home this morning.  The kids from church sang to the elderly.  It was very sweet!

And I cannot leave out a pic of Henry's first true Starbucks experience (other than the drive through which he has done with me a million times)!  We were getting a carwash today & strolled over to Starbucks while they did it.  Henry loved his cookies and milk!
