"The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."
-Sally Clarkson from the Mission of Motherhood

A Sure Sign of Summer...

is dirty bath water. We have it, people! Daily!! Check out Henry's knees when he came home from school Monday :)

And below, a few pictures of Grant and Grace playing before church Sunday morning. They find entertainment in the strangest of places (typical toddler behavior!) Sunday it was inside the legs of this bar stool in our kitchen!

Ty's Pool Party

Henry had the best time seeing friends he has not seen all summer at Ty's birthday party Saturday night. Henry and Trey, Ty's little brother, have been good friends since they met at school a few years ago. Henry talked about the birthday party all week, and all the friends were so excited to see each other last night!

Henry loved hitting the pinata. I think he took about 10 more hits than he was supposed to, but the kids were happy that he did some damage to the pinata!

The kids have been having a blast swimming with our sweet neighbors lately. The pool is the perfect temperature, and the kids enjoying playing with Jack. These pictures were taken last night. Grace even put on some floaties so she could join in on the fun, and Grandmother dropped by to watch!

My Aunt had a surprise 60th birthday party yesterday. We had so much fun visiting with her friends and being a part of her special day!

Grace has been having a ball sporting my sunglasses lately. She is so proud of them!

Happy Birthday, Nana!

Yesterday was Nana's birthday! We had such a fun time meeting her, Pawpaw, Aunt Jill, Uncle Brian, Will, Reid and Kate for dinner at Outback. Our three kids were kind of crazy, but they really enjoyed getting to see their cousins! Happy Birthday, Nana!

Just a funny pic from Sunday night when Grant finally (sneakily) took Henry's much coveted super hero cape. Grant was so proud of himself and loved running around the house in it!

We have been swimming like crazy over the past week, with several days entailing more than one pool venture (neighborhood pool, then the neighbor's pool later in the day.) I don't take my camera to the pool very often, because having it near water is always a high risk situation. I'll try to do better though!

My Babies Are Growing Up!!

I cannot believe how quickly my "babies" are turning into toddlers. On Tuesday we went to Target and also ran several other errands without a stroller! We all held hands in the parking lot, and they were great. I could not believe it. (Henry was such a big helper of course.) Then we went to Chick-fil-A only to discover that Grant and Grace can now climb in part of the big kid area of the kids play gym. Just this morning they both sat in their chairs to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse like big kids. Time is flying by....

On top of the babies growing up, Henry is getting bigger all the time. Henry has begged and begged to go spend the night with his cousins. So, our sweet family in Cullman graciously obliged. Henry is in Cullman until tomorrow. I hope he has a great time! I know he will!

"W" the Wedding

As many of you know, my little brother Michael got married this weekend. It was a very special weekend for our family!
>
Michael with his beautiful bride, Lindsey, at the rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal dinner was on a riverboat, which was very neat. There was a downpour shortly before we departed, so several arrived on the boat drenched! We handed out the towels we could find, made the best of it, and everyone had a great night!

Lindsey and Michael dancing. They are such a precious couple. The way that look at each other you can just tell that they love each other so much!

Lindsey with her bridesmaids on the boat after dinner.

Grant, Grace & Henry loved the big breakfast each morning at our hotel!

Saturday morning after breakfast, Henry tried on his tuxedo to see if it fit. He calls it his "casseta." SO funny! He was so incredibly proud to get to dress like all the guys, and he looked pretty cute in it too! :)

Lindsey was stunning. She was truly a beautiful bride. Michael was glowing!

I love this picture of Michael standing out in the heat just to watch Lindsey get her pictures taken.

The fam (minus Wes!)

Michael with us & his grandmothers!

I think you know who these folks are ;)

I had to share this pic for the sake of the story. Henry said, "Mom, what did they do to your hair? Tomorrow will you just wear it bland like you had it yesterday?" HAHA. Bland hair. I did not even know Henry knew the world bland. Funny.

The wedding party rode a trolley from the church to the reception. It was fun to have a few minutes to hang out with Michael & Lindsey.
Henry was a dancing machine at the reception. He was drenched. We kept making him stop for water. He danced the night away, even break dancing on the floor with a crowd circling him. (We have know idea where he learned to do that!) He definitely added a very fun element to the reception!

And here is the much anticipated Samford Hall groom's cake created by Doris, David's mom, with her army of assistants. Isn't it amazing? Here's another pic below.

Doris & Richard were among the many unsung heroes of the wedding. They helped so much. So did Kendra, Karen, Konnor, Kori, Keith, Renee & Mac with all of the kiddos! We were so thankful for all that everyone did to allow me, David & Henry to be in the wedding while knowing Grant & Grace were in good hands too!

Michael, Dad & me right before Michael left to go on his honeymoon.

Lindsey changed into a second wedding dress to leave the reception. It was beautiful too!

Chris, David & Wes. The boys had FUN this weekend.

The sendoff

Congrats, Michael & Lindsey! We love you guys and wish you the very best!!

Staying Cool on a HOT Summer Day!

Grant and Grace liked the music, but Henry just wanted to go play in the play area!

Maury & Henry had fun in the fort. (So did Pierce!)

Grant thought the trampoline was great!

We decided it might just be too hot to even go to the pool today! Plus, I did not want to risk the kids getting too much sun before the big wedding this weekend. So, we decided to join some friends for a cool indoor play date today. We went to Cherubs Clubhouse for a Kindermusic class followed by free play time. The kids had a blast. Then we went to Chick-fil-a, ate lunch, and played again. They were worn out and all fell asleep in the car on the way home. (Afternoons don't get much better than this! I can get so much done when they all sleep!)
