"The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."
-Sally Clarkson from the Mission of Motherhood

All I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth....

Yes, Henry lost his other front tooth on the bottom on Saturday night. He is now a toothless little boy indeed! The tooth fairy came and brought $2 this time. He was super excited! We can already feel his permanent teeth coming up. They were clearly pushing his baby teeth out of the way!

So Thankful!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our families. We are so blessed and so thankful for our Saviour, our health, our families, our friends....the list just goes on & on. It is very fitting to take a timeout for a holiday all about giving thanks!

The above picture was Henry with Reid & Preston (all three are 5 years old.) What a crew! They are buddies!
Grace(2), Grayson (just turned 3), and Grant (2)....these three are really close in age too!
Thanksgiving with my side of the family included a birthday celebration for November birthdays. Henry and Konnor received some assistance blowing out the candles!

Kori & Kendra made these cute turkey cupcakes!

Aunt Lindsey made these precious acorns! The kids loved these cute snacks!

13.1!

I ran my first half marathon on Sunday with some church friends who are old pros at running halfs (and fulls for one of them!) It was so much fun, but 13.1 miles is a long way. Even after training up to 11 miles, 13 seemed so much longer! I was a little sore Monday, and by Tuesday ready to run again if it weren't for the blisters on my feet! So I guess I'll wait a couple of days to let myself fully recover, then I'm planning to lace up & get back out there!
Mimi & Papa came to watch too! I was very proud of David for coming with three kids in tow & managing to take a bunch of pictures too. What a supportive husband ;)

2 hours and 16 minutes later...crossing the finish and pretty sure I could not have run another mile unless someone was chasing me with a weapon!

Henry Lost His First Tooth!

Henry's very loose tooth. He was STRESSED about this on Friday. It happened so fast and he was anxious about it actually falling out.
Right after he pulled it he was proud, excited & relieved!

Henry woke up Friday morning with a loose tooth, and by bed time it was gone! That was fast! It was super super loose on Friday, and by Friday night he mustered up the courage to pull it. I quickly sewed a tooth fairy pillow, and Henry left his tooth under his pillow. He woke up Saturday morning to find $5 in its place! He was so excited, and looks pretty cute with a missing tooth! :)

5 years old!

We celebrated Henry's 5th Birthday Wednesday morning with cupcakes for breakfast and presents for all! The kids had fun opening their gifts and having something so fun to eat! On Thursday, Henry went to the doctor for his checkup. He was 60% for height, 40% for weight. He's grown 3.5" since last year and gained 5 lbs! What a growth spurt he has had since last year! He then got 4 shots and did not even cry. Then, this morning he woke up with his first loose tooth! What is happening to my baby this week? I think he's growing up on me!

Let the Celebrating Begin!

Henry kicked off his birthday week with a birthday party at the bowling alley on Saturday. He and his friends had a blast! I wish I had gotten more pictures, but the it was hard to get pictures of the kids bowling without interrupting their games!

I'm posting a few pics, including one of the fabulous Power Rangers cake that Nana made Henry. Henry is still talking about his "awesome Power Rangers cake." Thanks, Nana!

You've Got A Friend in Me!

Some of the kids' cousins came down early for Henry's birthday party tomorrow, and they're spending the night with us! We are having the best time with Will, Reid & Kate. The kids are all having so much fun, and they just love being together! The girls went to get manicures this afternoon, and the boys played in the back yard. We've had dinner, ice cream, and homemade cookies. They are bathed and are currently feasting on popcorn while watching Toy Story 3 before bed! What a fun night it has been so far. David and I now have our fingers crossed that we have worn them out enough to make them go to bed at a decent hour. Time will tell!!

Happy Birthday, Pierce!

The kids had so much fun at Pierce's Pirate Birthday Party! They dressed up like pirates, walked the plank, and went on a treasure hunt. It was TOO cute, and the kids had a great time! Happy 4th Birthday, Pierce!

Scratch Disney World....for now

Grace is double checking to make sure Chuck E Cheese is behind the curtain on stage....right where he belongs :)
Grace's one moment of happiness at Chuck E Cheese
Grant loved everything about his trip!

So in the back of my mind I was planning a trip to Disney World in January before the twins turned three. (We took Henry right before three, since at three you have to start paying an arm and a leg for the kids too!) Well, after our trip to Chuck E Cheese on Tuesday to celebrate Pierce's 4th Birthday, I'm pretty sure Grace's fear of characters is still alive and well. She did NOT like Chuck E Cheese, kept a close eye on him, and when he walked around to greet people, we literally ran out the door! Grace was screaming so loud she silenced the people in Chuck E Cheese, and that is saying a LOT!! So for now, scratch Disney World. Our Gracie just isn't ready yet! Maybe a late spring trip and a few trips to Disney on Ice and what not in the mean time?!?

Four Seasons of Fun!

I cannot believe Henry completed his fourth season of soccer this fall, and Grant will be playing his first season this spring! It has been such a fun experience for our family, and I looked forward to many more years of being at soccer games. Below are pictures from Henry's game on Saturday morning, Tuesday night, and then the end of season party and trophy presentation!
I did not get a picture on Saturday, but Mimi & Aunt Karen came to cheer Henry on. Aunt Karen even bought hot Krispy Kreme doughnuts for the kids! Yum!

Happy Halloween!

The kids had a great Halloween this year. Henry was finally "ruling the school" and got to wear his costume to school on Monday. (First pic is before school Monday.) Then after school, we invited about 8 families over to trick or treat. Two families had last minute illnesses, but considering we planned this party on Saturday, it really came together well! We all had pizza, and snacks, went trick or treating, then came back for hot chocolate, cookies, and white chocolate covered marshmallows that looked like mummies! We had a great time, and hopefully those that got sick this year will be able to join us next year! :)

Grant repeatedly told people, "Trick or Treat, smell my feet." (Henry taught him this.) Grace would wait until she was given candy and then say, "I want some more." (90% of the time this tacky trick worked!) My children are so embarassing!!!
Hot chocolate, mummies & cookies!
