"The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."
-Sally Clarkson from the Mission of Motherhood

The Fallout Continues

Grant lost a top tooth Saturday at Henry's soccer game, and then lost it on the field. Luckily the tooth fairy accepts letters too :)

Gwin Open House

We had the best time at Gwin's open house tonight. I loved talking to their teachers, seeing their hard work, and bringing home their framed art!!

I must say Henry gave me a laugh tonight. I went to read his writing folder, and realized one of his writing samples  involved an inappropriate joke he learned at camp last summer. It isn't terrible, just not nice. It was the absolute only thing about camp that child learned that wasn't awesome. Nevertheless, I was mortified that his teacher had likely read what he wrote about the joke he learned at camp. I waited until the other parents had cleared the room and then apologized to her and assured her he did not learn a joke about "a priest, a rabbi, etc." from us. She laughed and said that he had by far the funniest writing sample in the class, and she literally sat at her desk and laughed out loud after school while grading papers. It is certainly never dull at the Pattersons!! Oops!! Glad she laughed I guess!!!

Tooth Fairy Visits Again!

Grace has had another wiggly tooth fall out. I think this is number 6?!? The tooth fairy comes to our house so much that I have no doubt she is having to take out lines of credit to fund this tooth losing bunch!!

Soccer!

Our favorite part of soccer used to be yelling "GOAL!!!" and watching Henry soar down the field with excitement!  Now the tables are turned.  He has decided to play goalie, and if there's one thing we don't want to hear, it is, "GOAL!!!"  He is loving it, but it sure is a nerve wrecking position from a parent's perspective.  There's a lot of pressure on the goalie in soccer!  However, he is loving playing goalie, and he does pretty well.  It just might be his thing :)

Nursery Rhyme Party

The kindergartners had their annual Nursery Rhyme Party.  They performed different nursery rhymes with choreography and singing, and then had a breakfast in the amphitheater. It was really cute!

I tried to get Grace and Grant to be Jack and Jill.  Of course they would not cooperate.  Grant chose Little Boy Blue.  Grace was Mary from Mary Had a Little Lamb.  However, she opted to not carry a lamb, didn't want a staff, and threw her hat down before the performance (and changed her dress about five minutes before we left for school that morning.)  Needless to say her costume ended up not being much of a costume, but she was happy.  That is a battle I chose not to pick with her!

Homework x 3 = 1 crazy mama

Juggling homework for 3 kids simultaneously when they are tired, and we are rushing to have snacks and get to  cheerleading/piano/soccer/church is a little bit crazy!!! It wears a mama out!!

Lunch Dates Galore

I have been to school a ton to eat lunch this year. Being at home without any babies makes for a far too quiet house.  Truthfully, the twins starting kindergarten has really been hard for me. The days are long, and I miss my babies!! It has been nearly 8 years since I had an "off day" that didn't involve having a child by my side. It is a big adjustment. So, I've been joining them quite a bit for lunch. I think they enjoy my company almost as much as I enjoy theirs!
