"The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."
-Sally Clarkson from the Mission of Motherhood

100th Day of Kindergarten!

Most kids were probably really excited to get to sleep a little later on Wednesday due to the delayed school openings with the bad weather forecast.  That was not the case at our house.  Henry said, "But Mom, it is the 100th day of kindergarten!!"  They had so many fun things planned, and he was worried they wouldn't be able to squeeze it all in to a shortened day, but I think they did!

We're Alive!!

Sorry I have not blogged in over a week!  We fell off the radar due to all FIVE of us getting sick one by one last week.  I'm happy to report we are back to normal, and there should be lots to report over the weekend with Grant and Grace turning FOUR, the super bowl, and Henry having a basketball game!

Due to Grant and Grace having a birthday right around the corner, Aunt Renee came up to visit Tuesday.  We enjoyed our time with her so much.

Here are two silly pics of the kiddos.  David took this one of Grace, and I took the one below of Grant when he was playing outside in the 70 degree weather earlier this week!

Georgia Aquarium

Since we had a long weekend for MLK holiday, we headed to Atlanta yesterday.  I think the Westin gets the award for the highest hotel room the kids have stayed in so far.  We were on the 61st floor!  They loved the view!  We went up to the very top of the hotel where the restaurant spins around and let them walk all the way around.  They couldn't believe the restaurant was moving!  Pretty neat!
Hanging out in the city :)  They're fearless.
Playing at Centennial Olympic Park.  David said, "This park is the bomb!"  (Slow clap....ha.....ha.....Eric Robert Rudolph joke....)

After dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, we headed back to our hotel for a swim before bed!
Monday morning we were off to the aquarium.  I must say that it was extremely impressive.  It was well worth the trip!  The kids loved it, and I know they'll be talking about it for a long time!

A whale shark (3 actually) in a tank as long as a football field!  Wow!
Crazy lighting...but we are going through a tunnel that goes through the largest aquarium tank in the world!!
Babies swimming underneath the mama whale shark.

The Dolphin Show is a must at the aquarium.  Grace loved the "swimmer girls" as she called them.  They rode on the dolphins and did all sorts of tricks with them.  She thought that was great!
I'm pretty sure this is the closest Grace and I could ever come to a whale shark.  It swam by right on the other side of the glass!!  Grace fearlessly tried to pet it through the glass.

What a fun trip!

Another Big Win!

Henry's team played another great game on Saturday.  (Yes, I know they don't keep score in upward, but all the parents can't resists keeping a tally!! haha!!)  Henry is really enjoying playing with lots of his friends from school, and the church is really an amazing group of people.  We have enjoyed it!
Yes, after some very unsuccessful dark, blurry, gym shots last year, I finally learned to shoot in manual so that I can get a decent shot in a gym.  Hooray!!!

Winter Wonderland

We had an unexpected 5 inch snow this afternoon.  It came down in a hurry, and it even surprised the schools!  I had to go check Henry out, because the roads were going to be frozen before school got out.  I barely got home and skidded a few times--scary!  Then, within a few hours, it was thawing on the roads, and now it is looking pretty safe out there!

After fun in the snow we came in for hot chocolate!  What a fun January surprise!

Big Weekend :)

Last Friday night we celebrated Papa's birthday at the Fish Market.  Everyone had a great time!!  Happy Birthday, Papa!
Saturday morning the kids were sweet enough to come to the finish line to see me finish the red nose 10 mile run.  I ran it in 1:41 (10:03 pace)....not great, but it was really humid!  I was not expecting warm weather in January.  Go figure!!  Nevertheless, it was a good run to prepare for Mercedes next Month.  The food and entertainment was fun for the whole family!

Saturday afternoon Henry had basketball.  He is really having fun playing with all of his friends!  They had a big win (12-8).  Henry scored 4 of the 12 points for the team, so he was super excited!

New Years in Rosemary Part II

We drove to Panama City on one of the warmest days to play putt putt :)

The sunsets are a really big deal at Rosemary in the winter.  Everyone brings a glass of wine and gathers on the walkovers to socialize and watch the sun go down.  It was really neat :)

On Friday our friends Campbell and Charlie Ann joined us for an awesome play date!  We wore the kids out and they took the best naps afterwards!  We ate a Cowgirl kitchen, played at the beach, played at the pool, played in the house, and even went to the Sugar Shack for ice cream.  It's hard to top a play date like that!  I'm so glad we got to see them.  The kids loved it!

New Years in Rosemary Part I

Saturday the 29th, we headed to Rosemary Beach for 8 days with Mimi, Papa, Wes, Honey, Michael & Lindsey.  We had a wonderful relaxing trip!  It wasn't warm, but we had some awesome food, awesome, rest, I got in some great long runs, the kids built sand castles and swam both inside and outside, David got to sleep late....you get the idea....it was a good vacation! Here are a few pics :)
