"The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."
-Sally Clarkson from the Mission of Motherhood

Deck the Halls!

These are pics of Henry, Grant and Grace helping decorate for Christmas. In light of having two 9 month olds capable of getting into everything, yet not understanding staying away from anything, literally 75% of our Christmas decor went straight back to the attic! The tree made the cut though. I figured we couldn't live through December without a Christmas tree! The kids had a blast playing with the decorations, and Henry was truly a big help!

These last two pictures are from the Hanging of the Green tonight at our church. I can tell such a huge difference from last year to this year. Last year half way through the service we had to exit the sanctuary, but this year Henry sat and enjoyed it all. Henry was wired from all the goodies at the church wide fellowship afterwards, hence the silly faces!

Thanksgiving 2009

Grant and Grace had a great first Thanksgiving!
Kate & Grace (the only girl cousins)
The boys played baseball with Pawpaw!
Grace and Grant are warming up to Uncle Wes's dog, Berry.
These pics were taken Wednesday afternoon at Mimi & Papa's. The weather was perfect, so the kids played outside.

Henry (above) and Grace (below) on Tuesday just hanging out around the house. Grace has had an ear infection, Grant is teething, and Henry has had a sinus infection. (Let's not even mention David & I both got a stomach virus!) It has been an interesting week, but we are surviving thanks to wonderful family to help us through!

Henry's Third Birthday Party

Henry had a wonderful time at his "Bubbly Birthday Bash" at McWane Science Center this past Saturday. All of his friends helped him celebrate, and everyone had a great time!

Summit Christmas Tree Lighting

We had fun tonight at the Summit's Christmas Tree Lighting. We ran into Maury & Carter there, and we saw Olivia afterwards. There was a short parade with Santa bringing up the end, and the kids loved it! As parades go, this was nothing special, but Henry loved the band, fire trucks, police and candy! The fireworks afterwards were fun too!

Henry's THREE!!

I cannot believe my baby is three!! This pic was taking on Monday morning (his actual birthday) as he ate all his favorite foods for breakfast!
This was Monday night. We gave him several trucks he wanted for his cars. He chose one of them to parade his cupcake to his spot at the table as we sang Happy Birthday! On a side note, the crown he is wearing was his "birthday crown" that he got at school and wore all day. He was so proud to take birthday cookies to his class, and he came home telling me about all of his birthday privileges, like being the line leader. He also said that they sang Happy Birthday to Henry at circle time. He was thrilled. I could not have begged him to stay home on his birthday, so I went on to work and did not feel bad about it!
Sunday night we had a few visitors who wanted to wish Henry an early Happy Birthday since we would all be at work and school on Monday. Henry had a great time!
Grant and Grace LOVE their Pawpaw & their Papa!

How time flies!! Our sweet baby boy when he was a few hours old...just a short three years earlier!

Grant Got Tubes!

We are pleased to report that Grant got tubes this morning and came through with flying colors. We got up at 4:30 & Grant got up then too (his ears were bothering him.) We were very worried about not being able to give him a bottle and him not being able to understand why. He did great! He was fussy a few times, but not for long. When we got to Children's at 5:50 they got us back quickly & there were plenty of toys, cars, movies, etc, to entertain him. All of the staff was extremely kind and kid friendly. It was a great experience. We were home before 9:00 a.m. and by 12:30 Grant had turned a new leaf! We are so thankful and optimistic that this will be the end of his ear troubles. He's already crawling and standing up better than before due to his equilibrium being off due to the fluid in both ears. God is good and we are thankful for the doctors & nurses that helped make Grant's experience today so positive!
This was just too cute not to post! It's Daddy's cheering section! All three kids were smiling & tapping on the window cheering for Daddy while he cut the grass this afternoon! I think David got as big a kick out of it as they did. They stood there almost the entire time he was in the back yard!

Checkup Times THREE

No pic to post due to some unhappy campers after labs, but we had Grant & Grace's 9 month checkup and Henry's 3 year checkup all at the same time. It was a circus, even with three nurses attending to us! (Seriously, to be a fly on the wall. Haha.) Everyone is thriving, except for Grant and Grace having ear infections. This is only Grace's second, but it is about Grant's sixth, I believe. We are getting tubes in the morning, so say a prayer!

A few checkup stats:
Henry (our munchkin) was 25% for height, 50% for weight
Grace (our slender girl) was 50% for height, 40% for weight
Grant (our AU linebacker) was 90% for height, 70% for weight

Happy Veterans Day!

We missed the "Mission of Thanks" preschool program at church as well as the Veterans Day Parade downtown, but we did manage to make it to Mimi & Papa's house for a few hours of fun in the afternoon! We are so thankful for all those who serve in the military, past and present. Happy Veterans Day!

A Fun Few Days

David snoozing on the couch while Grant was comfortably watching TV
Who's the big brother?!?

It has been a fun few days at our house, but I have no pictures in particular to post! So, I've posted a few random fun pictures from this past week. This past week we had three playdates: two at different parks in our area & one at our house with the twins' new friend Kate! David, Mimi and Papa took care of the kids this weekend so I could go to AU Sat-Sun to see Michael and Wes and live the college life for a brief moment in time! Sunday afternoon we went to Matt's with the whole family for some delicious homemade lasagna, and then it was Monday again! We hope everyone has a great week and that all of you that get Veteran's Day off enjoy it! I know we will!

Happy 9 Months, Grant & Grace!

I cannot believe the twins were nine months old yesterday! Excuse their messiness in this picture. We took it after dinner at Nana & Pawpaw's with their six cousins! Everyone had a great time. We visited with Pawpaw Grady who turned 89 yesterday!

Grant & Grace are a crawling, talking, signing, sitting, standing, full of laughs, all around bundle of joy these days. Grace is signing "please" constantly and "more" occassionally. She is pulling up on everything in site and trying so hard to walk by herself. She's also saying Mama, Dada, Papa, and Baba (bottle). Grant is saying "no no no" constantly to Grace. It is hilarious. He also says Mama, Dada & "Ja" and "Da" when he sees Jake. He's rolling around, but not as close to walking. However, he's clapping and waving hello and goodbye. He is very social! It is so fun to see how God created them to be their own little person and they learn different skills at different times. We love you both dearly, Grant & Grace!
Grant had too many toys for his hands to hold!
Grace is ready to walk!
Grace had fun with her Grandad and Great Grandad yesterday!
