"The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."
-Sally Clarkson from the Mission of Motherhood

Look What Grant Can Do!

Grant wrote his own name tonight!  Can you see it???

Preschool Water Party

The kids had a blast at the preschool water party at church this past Sunday.  It was a fun afternoon, and I was happy to give David the evening off while I took the kids (since he was super dad and took care of them all weekend while I went to the beach with friends!)  Thanks, David, for allowing me to have a mommy break!!

Summer Fun!

Grant had a great time yesterday picking tomatoes in our back yard garden!  We are loving the fresh, organic, FREE veggies in our yard this summer!  The kids are more excited to try new things when they've picked them!

After we picked Henry up from Camp Razzle Dazzle today, we headed to meet Campbell and Charlie Ann at iJump.  The kids had a blast!  The picture of Campbell upside down cracked us up!  We wore the kids out, and all three of mine took a nap when we got home.  (That is an amazingly rare occurrence!)

Father's Day Fun

We had a great weekend with both sides of the family celebrating great fathers and letting the kids play with cousins!

Henry and Grant had fun on Papa's farm.  We brought home so many fresh veggies and have enjoyed them so much!  Tonight for dinner is squash casserole, peas, green beans, corn and homemade biscuits!  I love a summer vegetable plate! :)  We are hoping to have veggies in our garden in our backyard soon.  We already have some green tomatoes!

I love pictures of the old barns and chicken houses.  I they are pretty.

Grant could not resist helping Papa open his present from Grandmother!

VBS Home Concert

Henry, Grant and Grace decided to serenade me last night with a multitude of VBS songs.  Here are two of them.  There is another song I could not post due to its size, but despite my attempts to correct Grant, he thinks the lyrics are "My God will meet all your needs according to His glorious britches."  They keep me laughing!!

Summer Saturday

Saturday we hung out with the James, Holli & Jim.  The kids had fun playing outside until nap time.

Then on Saturday afternoon Henry lost his fourth tooth!  This one had been wiggly for a while, so he was very relieved and proud of himself when Dad was finally able to pull it out for him!  The tooth fairy came to visit on Saturday night, and Henry was beyond thrilled.

It's Roger Day!

Tuesday after VBS, we headed to Chickfila for a quick lunch with friends Charlie Ann, Campbell, Maury, Carter, and Caroline, and then went to the library for the Roger Day concert.  Roger Day is apparently loved by every kid on the planet, not just ours.  Hoover Library had 8 shows this week, and even that may not be enough.  We got there 30 minutes early and had to sit in an aisle on the stairs...one of the very last people to get in!!  The Mayor of Hoover was even there.  It was lots of fun.  If I wouldn't feel bad for being stingy, my kids would have probably loved to go see him again this week.  I wouldn't want to take someone's seat that had not seen him though, so we refrained :)

He sang all their favorites, "Mosquito Burrito,"  "Roly Poly," "Dream Big," etc.....

Grace and Grant were mesmerized and loved every minute!

VBS 2012

Dressed up for super hero day!  (Grace had a pink cape that she refused to wear for the picture!)

Can you see Henry back there in the yellow shirt singing his little heart out?  They love the music!
We have had another great week of VBS at our church.  Parents night was tonight, and we got to go see all the classrooms, have dinner, and listen to the kids sing.  It has been a fun, but exhausting week for the kids and for the teachers too I think!

Rylee Turns 3!

Rylee had a circus themed 3rd birthday party on Saturday complete with a balloon man and cotton candy!  The kids had so much fun.  Henry was so busy playing I could not even get a picture of him.  Grace liked the balloon animals best.  Grant liked all the candy and doughnuts!

Happy Birthday, Rylee!

Being Born in 1930 is Impressive :)

Grandmother celebrated her 82nd birthday on Friday, and we had a big birthday dinner to celebrate.  However, I must say that she does not act or look 82.  She's a world traveler, just bought herself a new car, and pretty much does whatever she pleases!  However, in addition to having a good time, she is also always serving others.  She loves taking care of people, being involved in church ministries, and keeping busy doing for others.  She has been spoiling me for 31 years!  I am so thankful that she has been such a huge part of my life, and that except for when I left for college and law school, she's always been less than 5 minutes away.

We love you, Grandmother!  Happy 82nd Birthday.  Cheers to many, many more! :)

Happy Memorial Day!

Henry had to be bribed to wear an appliqued shirt, even for a picture.  He then immediately took it off before church and informed me that He would never wear it again!  Ha!  I'm afraid my days of cute matching outfits are over!

Last Swim Lesson!

Swimming lessons made a BIG difference for these two little fish!  Henry and Pierce had fun taking lessons at the Y, and I think they were both proud of all they accomplished!
