"The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."
-Sally Clarkson from the Mission of Motherhood

Easter in Cullman!

The kids sang Happy Birthday to me & enjoyed cookie cake after brunch!  Then we were off to hunt eggs outside.  After hunting eggs at Nana & Papa's, we headed to 4D Farms.  The kids went on an egg hunt there and enjoyed the GIANT slide, cow train rides, jumpy, duck race, etc., etc.  Then we made one final stop at their church egg hunt.  Yes, the kids hunted eggs THREE times today and are in a sugar induced coma at the moment.  And it isn't even Easter yet!

The Dentist!

Spending Friday afternoon at the dentist was probably not their favorite thing to do, but they did a really good job!  Grant & Henry went at the same time, while Grace cautiously watched.  Grace was really scared, but she was brave and did great.  She also found out that she is about to lose two or three teeth!  I was startled when they said that, but they assured me it is not uncommon for girls to lose teeth at 4.  The hygenist said her daughter did!  I just can't believe we're about to have multiple snaggle tooth kiddos.  They grow up so fast.  Of course, Grace is already thrilled and can't wait for the tooth fairy to bring her some money!

Spring Break for Henry!

Henry had a great spring break.  He went to the movies with Mimi on Monday, Grant and Grace skipped to school to bowl with him Tuesday, Wednesday he played at Campbell's house, Thursday we went to Airwalk and out to lunch, and Friday they all went to the zoo with our awesome babysitter Rebecca!  I think overall it was a good week for him despite the cooler weather!

Season Opener for Tball!

Grant had a great first game Thursday night. He got three runs, played second, short stop and left field.  (I feel the need to explain that in tball playing a position means standing in that spot. At one point a ball rolled right to Grant and bounced off his foot and he made no attempt to get it!!)
 Let's go White Sox!!
Grace and Henry loved cheering for Grant.  It is so sweet to watch them encourage each other in their own little endeavors!

Giving coach a five after scoring a run!

Easter's On Its Way!

We dyed eggs this afternoon with our neighbors!  So fun!!

We have also been "egging" our friends.  (We leave egg cartons with eggs filled with candy on doorsteps.)  Two families have been egged so far.  I wonder who we'll egg next?!?

The Best Grandparents!!!

Our kids are blessed with the best grandparents anyone could ask for.  This weekend Mimi & Papa kept the kids for us while we were out of town.  They took them to and from school, packed backpacks and lunches, got them to a birthday party, a tball game and who knows what else!  We are so thankful for them taking care of them.  Uncle Wes was a huge help with the kids also, particularly since Papa was out of town until Friday night!  Thanks, Uncle Wes. :)  (And Aunt Lindsey & Uncle Michael kept Max--thanks guys!!)

Then, when we got home, we found that Nana & Papa had been buy and hid eggs & candy in our yard.  There was a sign that said ,"You've been egged!"  So, we got our Easter baskets out of the attic and went on an egg hunt after church.

That Sassy, Sassy Thing :)

Today we were going out to walk Max, and as you know if you know Grace, a walk (like everything else on earth) requires a wardrobe change.  That girl changes clothes all day long.  When she came out, I said, "Grace, you are not wearing a mini skirt on our walk.  It is freezing outside!"  She immediately said, "I don't care if I freeze."  Why did I even ask?  I'm pretty sure I remember having these battles when I was little.  I wanted to bust out the shorts long before spring rolled in :)  So now this is payback for me, and Papa is enjoying laughing at every minute of me raising my mini-me!!!

March B'days

Last Friday night we had a b'day celebration (despite sick little Grant in our midst!!) for Mimi, Aunt Lindsey, and Uncle Wes.  Aunt Lindsey fixed homemade stromboli, and it was soooooo good!!

Kids Say the Darndest Things

The kids say funny things all the time.  I wish I could write it all down, but it is just impossible.  Here are a few things that were said between dinner & bed time tonight:

Tonight Grant told Grace "to never get sick because medicine is baskusting." (Disgusting.)  I love the way they say that word.  They both say it that way.  There are so so so few words that they still mispronounce.  I get sad when I realize that they have learned how to say words correctly--it is just not nearly as cute!! :):)

Grace knocked a lamp over after dinner and then said, "Mom, I forgive you"....and gave me a hug.  She knew she was supposed to say something....but I think she meant to say sorry!!  She also prayed that God would "make me be good" when she said her prayers.

I told Grace that her room was a wreck and she needed to clean it up tomorrow.  She said, "Mom, I didn't do it."  I said, "Oh really?"  With a serious look on her face, she looked me straight in the eye and said, "A leprechaun came in here and did it."

Henry told me tonight that he ran the mile in ten seconds during PE today.  He promises he did.  Henry also informed me that I should buy a "fake dad" to help me when Daddy is out of town for work!  (I think he gets tired of me asking him to be my big helper!!)

Meet Max

Everyone in our family has been asking for a dog except for me.  So I decided I would give in if it was hypoallergenic/non-shedding, young but not a puppy, already house trained, small, and good with kids and other dogs.  I figured it would take a while to find a dog to meet all of those requirements.  Nope!!  We found one faster than I expected!  He is great.  10 lb., 1 year old, mini poodle mix.  And he is precious.  He LOVES kids.  We got him Sunday when I got home from my girls weekend at the beach (thanks, David!!) and we are already in love with this little guy.  He's a sweetie.....even though I could live without an animal to be honest!  The kids are super happy, and that makes for a happy momma :)

And poor Grant has been sick today!  He was up last night with congestion.  We are now on an antibiotic for a sinus infection and already doing better.  Thank goodness for medicine! :)

He crashed before we picked Henry up from school and then crashed again when we got back.  Poor guy!
